About Us

Church Street Kindergarten is a Community Not-for-Profit Kindergarten with a rich history of providing industry leading early childhood education.

Church Street Kindergarten was established in 1958 as Wacol Army Village Kindergarten. After the sale of the Army Village in 1987, the kindergarten relocated to Goodna in 1988. The Centre now services a large area with children attending from a wide area which takes in the eastern suburbs of Ipswich, the Centenary suburbs and the Greater Springfield Area.

The kindergarten is an incorporated association which is managed by the parents of the children attending the Kindergarten or parents who have their child’s name on the Waiting List for the following year.

The land is owned by Ipswich City Council and leased by the Kindergarten and all of the buildings and equipment are owned by Church Street Kindergarten & Preschool Association.

Affiliation

The Kindergarten is affiliated with The Creche & Kindergarten Association of Queensland (C&K) who are our Central Governing Body (CGB). C&K are responsible for the distribution of State Government funding to our Centre. They also provide support to us and monitor our compliance. An Early Childhood Advisor from C&K regularly visits our Centre to ensure that high standards are being maintained.

Church Street Kindergarten & Preschool holds a Public Liability Insurance of $20million and a Professional Indemnity Insurance of $20million through Guild Insurance.

Facilities

The Kindergarten is situated in a suburban residential environment. This is a less daunting first step into an educational facility with only 22 children in attendance unlike hundreds of children in a school environment. The kindergarten building is orientated towards a large tree-covered natural grassy playground with an emphasis on natural materials such as timber and bark. Large shade covers provide extensive shade areas in the playground area.

Church Street Kindergarten provides all of the Library, Music & Movement and Language & Mathematical activities available at schools. The Centre has extensive indoor and outdoor play equipment and resources which have been purchased and maintained over many years through parent fundraising efforts. We value all of our past and present families as being part of our Church Street community.
