We acknowledge the Jaggera people who are the traditional owners of the land upon which our Kindergarten is built. We respect and value all Elders past, present and emerging.
Our educators recognise and value our indigenous heritage and believe that it is important for our community to work towards a united Australia that respects this land of ours, values the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and provides justice and equality for all.
At Church Street Kindergarten we have adopted C & K’s Curriculum Approach which is an approach to both The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG) as we strongly believe in the value and importance of Play as each child’s tool for learning. We believe that play-based early year’s education is crucial for each child’s optimal development.
We know that children are capable and competent. We respect and value each and every child as an individual with their unique range of abilities, interests, knowledge, ideas and culture which form the foundations of our program at Church Street Kindergarten and Preschool. Every child brings with them their own unique background and experiences which not only contribute to the individuality of each child but also enriches our Kindergarten community as a whole. We value and respect parents and other family members as being each child’s first and most important educators.
We believe that every child has a right to an education in which they are supported to reach their maximum potential and we are committed to providing every child with this high-quality educational experience. We guarantee equal access and inclusion for all eligible-aged children in order of their placement on our Waiting List and subject to our Immunisation policy and Statutory Regulations. Early childhood education is a partnership between the children, their families, the educators and the community. We strive to make all parties feel welcome, respected and included.
We aim for our Kindergarten to be a place where each person is nurtured and respected. We strive to achieve this through open and honest communication and collaboration with children, families, educators and the wider community. We support and promote positive relationships with and between children.
At Church Street Kindergarten and Preschool we strive to imbed sustainability into all aspects of our Kindergarten. We encourage children, their families, educators and the wider community to join us in caring for, respecting and embracing our environment as a vital part of the future of all living things on the planet.
As educators we actively engage in ongoing professional development. We are committed to supporting each other to continually reflect on and to improve our own teaching and learning practices. Our parents, via the elected Management Committee, actively support and facilitate the ongoing professional development of the educators. The educators uphold the highest ethical and professional standards
Children’s HEALTH and SAFETY, including CHILD PROTECTION, is a high priority at Church Street Kindergarten and Preschool. We strive to protect all children in all circumstances. C & K’s Policies and Procedures on these areas have been adopted and implemented as our policies and procedures with the exception of the IMMUNISATION policy. Up-to-date IMMUNISATION is compulsory at our Kindergarten to protect and safeguard the well-being of all who come to our Centre. We also undertake to provide financial support for Private Hospital Emergency treatment for any child, whilst in attendance at Church Street Kindergarten and Preschool, who requires Emergency Hospital attention.
